The news coverage on medicinal cannabis has increased dramatically in 2013. Reports have appeared on CNN, ABC and CBS about high-cannabidiol hemp oil being effective in controlling symptoms of rare epileptic diseases like Doose Syndrome, Dravet Syndrome, Infantile Spasms, Cortical Dysplasia, and Doose Syndrome. These conditions can lead to hundreds of thousands of seizures per week and also affect development in many other ways. This can cause a lot of problems for families who have children affected by these diseases. Because of the complex nature and complications of Dravet Syndrome and its related syndromes traditional pharmaceuticals are often ineffective and can make the situation worse. Families are turning to high-CBD cannabis oil as a last resort. It has shown remarkable efficacy and is providing hope for many families.
High-CBD cannabis extract is not psychoactive and appears to be more beneficial than high levels of THC. Cannabidiol, another cannabinoid found in cannabis plants, is also being researched. It has been shown to have neuroprotective, anticancer and antispasmodic properties. Furthermore, cannabis oil is a type of extract from cannabis. Concentrated cannabinoids can be consumed orally rather than smoked. This preserves medicinal compounds and allows them more easily to reach the digestive system than the respiratory system.
The research suggests that CBD has panacea-like properties, and in practice, this is proving to be the case. Sanjay Gupta made a CNN documentary on Charlotte Figi, which was released August 11, 2013. Charlotte is a young Dravet syndrome patient who was having 300 grand mal seizures a week. This number cannot be reduced by any medications or diet. Charlotte’s seizures stopped immediately after Charlotte was introduced to high-CBD marijuana oil by her parents. She has now experienced a minimum of three minor seizures per calendar month. This case is remarkable and not unusual. Dr. Margaret Gedde is a Colorado Springs doctor who is following 11 new patients from the Stanely brothers. They are the ones responsible for Charlotte’s high-CBD medicine. 9 of them experienced seizures reductions of 90-100%. Again, this is amazing.
CBD has been shown to be very effective against epileptic conditions. Not even the most well-researched pharmaceuticals can induce healing. Yet high-CBD cannabis oil is immediately and potently reducing symptoms, with the only side effects being systemically beneficial – more energy, better learning, improved behavior, and more.
It shouldn’t surprise that such research has been ongoing for years. Researchers have shown cannabinoids are effective in treating epilepsy. There is also evidence that they can help control and eliminate other serious diseases. The results for epilepsy, and other conditions, are being translated to the human body. For years, people have been successfully eliminating cancers and treating diseases such as diabetes, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia and heart disease. This is as serious as it gets, and more attention must be brought to this issue.
